Bereavement Vincent Rafters
It was with great sadness that we learnt of Vincent Rafters passing on the evening of the 5th May 2025. Vincent, who hailed from staunch hurling country in Clough Ballacolla, Co. Laois, joined Faughs GAA in the 80’s. Whilst he never hurled for the club, he was manager of the Intermediate hurling team for many seasons in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
Vincent was also heavily involved in the juvenile section of the club, mentoring numerous teams his sons Barry, Paul & Peadar played on. 2 of his grandsons – Darragh & Niall are currently playing in the Club. Outside of his sons he played a key role in mentoring and nurturing many hurlers who rose through the juvenile ranks and into adult hurling.
One such member recalls the frequent trips to Parnell Park to watch both Faughs and Dublin play and told of Vincent’s love of traditional music.
Vincent will be sadly missed by all in Faughs GAA. We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to his wife Annette, his three sons Barry, Paul & Peadar and all of Vincent’s grandkids, wider family & friends
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
