CLUB NOTES 27 SEPTEMBER 2020

A HUGE “Well Done” to Jnr 1 Camogie team on their fine win over Thomas Davis in the Shield Semi-final on Sunday. This was a ding-dong battle with only a score between the sides for most of the game but our girls were equal to the task and pushed on to win by four points in the end.

Commiserations to Jnr 4 team who were knocked out of the Championship semi-final also on Sunday by a very accomplished St. Annes team. Best of luck to St. Annes in the final.

Senior Hurlers are playing next Sat 3rd Oct against Naomh Brid @ 5:30 in Osprey in the final group round of Snr A Hurling Cup. Jnr A hurlers are playing on Sun 4th against Clanna Gael @ 11am, this is an away game.

It was with great sadness that news of the death of Billy O’Dwyer following a protracted illness reached the club on Sunday. Billy was one of the Greats of his era and during an illustrious career he represented his native Kilkenny on nineteen occasions picking up two All Ireland medals, five Leinsters, one National League and one Railway cup between 1956 and 1963. On his move to Dublin he joined Faughs where he played with distinction winning two Senior Championships and two Leagues before finally hanging up his boots in 1972. Billy will be fondly remembered by his team mates and friends in the club. Deepest sympathy is extended to Ann, Ann Marie, Siobhán, Philly, James, sisters, brother, extended family and friends in Dublin and Kilkenny. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dílis.

Club Lotto Numbers drawn were 5, 7, 15 and 21. No jackpot winner. Two “Match Three” winners, Eugene and Margaret Beagan and Pat O’Connell will share €200. Next week’s jackpot will be €3,300. Thanks to all who support our club lotto.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery go to Tom Downey who is recovering from recent surgery. Tom is a longtime supporter and friend of the club and we all hope to see him back to full health very soon

Congratulations and best wishes for the future to Frank Nash and Linda Spellman who celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary on Tuesday.
