CLUB NOTES 29TH November 2016
What a busy week in the club!
Well done to our U21 hurlers who had a well-earned comprehensive championship win over Cuala on Sunday. Great performances here from the free-scoring duo David Croke and Chris Bennett.
Not such good news for our seniors who suffered a one-point defeat at the hands of Parnells in the Top Four final. Best here were Emmet McKenna and Carl O’Mahony normally a forward who deputised in goal for the injured Liam Gleeson and did a super job. Also on the losing side were Junior As in their Top Four playoff against Cuala in extreme weather conditions on Monday of last week.
The Members’ Bar was looking truly magnificent for the visit of County Board Chairman Seán Shanley who took time out from his busy schedule to officially cut the tape on the much anticipated opening of our museum. There is a treasure-trove of interesting material here and all members and friends are invited to visit. A big “Thank You” to everyone who gave of their time and resources to have the club looking resplendent for this great occasion.
On Saturday “Sliotars in their Eyes “came to town and what talent we had on display!! Ultimate winners were The Spice Girls, but everyone who took part was a winner on the night. Huge thanks to Eoin for his organisation and enthusiasm, also to MC Chris who did a fantastic job and to the competitors, helpers and the huge audience. A truly great club event.
Another talented group took part in Scor na nÓg Tráth na gCheist . Eddie Hogan, Joe Ryan. Joe Kenny and Niall Finnegan were worthy winners, well done lads.
Club Calendars are now on sale and can be obtained from team mentors or from bar staff.
Christmas Carol evening takes place this year on Thursday 22nd December @ 7.30 in the main hall.
Monday Makers as usual on last Monday of the month. This is the last one before Christmas so all “Makers” are invited to come along and enjoy some festive fare.
Trad Night this Thursday 1st Dec. Hope to see you all there.
Next Saturday night is Club Night in the Members’ Bar with music, food, craic and spots galore.
Club Lotto – Numbers 9, 12, 13 & 16. No Winner. Next week’s Jackpot will be €5,000.
I’m looking for volunteers to help put up Christmas decorations in the members bar this Saturday afternoon from 2:30pm, pop me a mail if you can lend a hand.
