Dorry Murray
Dorry Murray was a valued member of Faughs. She was a member of the Exec from January 2015 to March 2017 and was our Child Protection Officer.
Dorry is fondly remembered as a friend by everyone in Faughs.
A Welcome from The Chair
Welcome to Faughs U13 Camogie and Hurling Tournament for 2022 celebrating our 7th tournament.
The first successful inaugural Faughs U13 tournament was held in May 2016 Faughs GAA Club was founded in 1885 and is one of Irelands oldest GAA clubs. This annual event is linked to our focus on promoting and developing the skills in our juvenile games.
The U13 Tournament was renamed the Dorry Murray Tournament in May 2017. Dorry was a valued member of our Executive Committee who sadly died in April 2017. Dorry made a significant contribution to Faughs in many ways. She was our Child Welfare Officer, and an active mentor as well as an active Faughs supporter. In memory of Dorry, we renamed the tournament, and we present the Dorry Murray Memorial Trophies to the winning Hurling and Camogie Teams each year.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the fifth tournament in May 2020 and as an alternative, we had a series of weekly online challenge skill activities for U13 and U14 teams, with many of the Clubs who had previously attended the tournament participating and sharing content online. Also in 2021, due to Covid 19, we could not go ahead with the event. We are delighted to be back hosting the event on Sunday May 15 the 2022, and to be marking the seventh year of running the event.
I am very pleased to welcome teams from all over Ireland and I would like to wish all the players the best of luck today. We are delighted to have 16 teams participating in the Tournament today, with teams from 10 GAA Clubs coming from 7 different counties.
It is great to see teams participating in the tournament from Durrow, Co. Laois, Dicksboro, Co. Kilkenny, Abbeyknockmoy Co. Galway, Monaleen Co. Limerick, Naas & Caragh , Co. Kildare, Gorey, Co. Wexford, our Dublin teams Castleknock, Na Fianna and Judes. And finally our home teams from Faughs.
Above all I wish you all a very enjoyable day at Faughs and regardless of the match outcomes I hope everyone leaves with happy memories.
