PROJECT NAME:

FAUGH’S MOST INFLUENTIAL SPORTING PLAYER SINCE THE CLUB’S FOUNDATION IN 1885


This year’s project selection is chosen to celebrate the 135th year anniversary of Faugh’s foundation in 1885 and a special club logo has been designed to mark the year.

 

 


ABOUT OUR CELEBRITY:

Hailing from Abbey/Duniry in Galway, Mattie Kenny was appointed Dublin Senior Hurling manager in 2019.

Prior to this Mattie managed Cuala to 4 senior Dublin titles and to an All-Ireland club title.

We are honoured that Mattie has agreed to support our event this year and we look forward to welcoming him to the club later in 2020.

 

PROJECT CONTENT TO INCLUDE:

• Artwork
• Background to this person
• Why you chose this person
• Why you see them as being influential
• Hurling or camogie teams that the player played on at Faughs and some pictures
• Teams that the person played with at county level (if applicable)
• Family connections who remain at the club
• Sporting achievements
• Non-sporting achievements

PROJECT TIMELINE:

  • Due to Covid-19 we are providing flexibility for teachers and team mentors to run the project between June and September at a time of their choosing. The project is OPTIONAL.
  • Projects to be submitted to CommunityProject@faughs.ie before September 30th.
  • Awards presentation date will be in Quarter 4 (subject to Covid) and will be confirmed at a later date.

 

PROJECT GUIDELINES:

• Students from 4th Class (2019/20 Year) can participate
• Players from U11 camogie and hurling teams in Faughs can participate
• Completed by student on their own or with other students up to a maximum of 4 per group. Note, groups to use online communication / obey social distancing rules please
• Submit projects by email to Communityproject@faughs.ie when available but submit before 30th September 2020
• Projects to be displayed in PowerPoint or on A2 cardboard sheet (in latter case picture of project to be taken and emailed – please maintain original for awards presentation evening)
• Pupil Names; School Name and Class to be displayed clearly on email and on projects ON RIGHT HAND SIDE OF DISPLAY SHEETS. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR DISPLAY STANDS ON PRESENTATION NIGHT.
• Faughs will collect projects during October (subject to Covid-19)
• Schools Presentation evening in November (subject to Covid-19)

AWARDS:

• Independent Judges will judge projects with criteria to include:
– Interpretation of the guidelines above
– Research done
– Creativity and Artwork
– Neatness of presentation / display
• All participants will have their projects put on display on club website during period from June to December 2020 & at clubhouse for presentation evening
• Winning 3 projects in each school to present their projects on the awards night at clubhouse and to receive their awards from Mattie Kenny, Dublin Senior Hurling Manager
• Overall winning project to receive the 2020 Faughs Community Schools Award at awards evening
• Projects will be displayed on club website and in local newspapers
