Schools Update – Presentation Terenure join Joeys and Pius GNS in Croke Park

It’s that time of the year again, Cumann na mBunscol Finals in Croke Park coming up, a great day out for everyone involved.

The big news this year is Presentation Primary Terenure qualifying for Croke Park finals for the first time in over 10 years. We have been hoping to re establish camogie in Presentation and set them up as a second camogie feeder school for Faughs Celtic.  Club GPO Tommy O’Mahony has been coaching away in the school for the last few years and it’s great to see it begin to pay off now.  Under the guidance of teachers Ms. White and Ms. Stack, Presentation were undefeated in the group stages, won their semi final in a local derby against Ballyroan and now contest the Corn Olly Quinlan on Finals day.  We look forward to seeing lots of new faces from Presentation in the club.

Meanwhile, the Pius GNS camogie juggernaut rolls on – Ireland was winning Eurovisions the last last year they didn’t make a Croke Park final. Led by Ms.Kelly and Ms.Fitzgerald, this year the Senior Team defend their Sciath B Uí Phuirséil title against Raheny.  Special mention to the young Junior team who despite conceding years and inches to all their opponents won 2 out of 3 group matches before losing their Quarter Final to a serious Castleknock outfit.

In hurling, the St. Joseph’s Terenure Senior Team, under the guidance of Mr. Reale and Mr. Ó Riain are through to the Sciath Marino final after an impressive semi final win over St. Helens Portmarnock.

St. Josephs Terenure Senior Hurlers

St. Pius BNS Seniors were successful in the group stages of Corn Marino, qualifying out of the group in second place with 3 wins out of 4 games, before unfortunately losing out in the semi final to a strong Bayside, Fairview team.  Although they didn’t get to Croke Park this year, they did come way with consolation of bragging rights after winning the big local derby v. Joeys in the group stages.  Such are the numbers hurling in St. Pius now that they were able to enter to Junior teams in the Go Games leagues. Thanks to teachers Mr. Dillon, Mr. Smyth, Ms Corcoran, Mr. Murtagh, Ms Gallagher, Ms. Redmond, Ms NiLoinsigh and Ms. Kennedy.

Best wishes to teachers, players and parents in Croke Park.  We’ll post dates and times as soon as they are finalised.
