That’s a Wrap for U16s

The end of the road for the 2007 girls as far as their juvenile camogie journey is concerned. All of the team, their current and a couple of former mentors got together after their final match last week to sit down together one last time and look back at their journey so far.

Their last game at U16 was to be the Div 2 Championship final against neighbouring St Judes. They had defeated Judes the last time both teams met in a final but unfortunately this time fell just short. After a dream start for Judes, the girls found themselves looking at a 9 point deficit by halftime but with a spirited comeback in the second half it was Judes that were seeking the final whistle as Faughs reeled them back in. There was just a goal in it at the end as Faughs ran out of time whilst making all the play.

There was lots of laughs, chat and banter on the night in Mario’s and even a few words of wisdom from their mentors. As well as wishing the girls the best of luck for the future and thanking them all for their dedication, there was also plenty of talk of looking forward to seeing them return next year to take on the challenge of playing minor. These are a special group of players and the club really needs talent like this to stick around for the long haul. Faughs Abú
