U11 Season Opening Versus the Gaels of RANELAGH
The first scheduled fixture of the season was against RANELAGH at home in TYMON Sat Feb 23rd on a lovely morning for hurling. The new rules for this U11 age group of more possession, air hurling entirely as well as standard value for goals and points represented another step forward in the players’ hurling careers.
Twenty three players lined out for FAUGHS on the day – numbers were down due to mid-term break, and good work was done in advance moving players to other age groups to help maximise game time for all, as the opposition were significantly low in numbers. The standard of hurling was good throughout with some nice pieces of skill on display, and it was a good learning opportunity with greater time on the ball than may normally be the case. The mentors were pleased with the progress at this early stage and look forward to the further improvements ahead as training continues and more games are played
A special mention goes to Jack MCCORMACK who turned up supporting his team mates with an injury that will keep him out of action for a number of weeks – well done Jack, and all in the group wish him a speedy recovery.
Well done to all in representing their club so well on the day. A big shout out to our guys who agreed to play with Ranelagh in order to ensure everyone got to play maximum game time. A particular well done to MOTM winners who were excellent on the day in attitude and skill demonstrated. MOTMs – Neil O’Donovan, Harry Moylan;
