U11 taste inter-county
It was a busy action-packed day for the U11 boys squad on Sat 8th June with matches in Dublin and Wexford! First up was LUCAN who were the visitors @ TYMON for an early start with 27 of the FAUGHS squad lined out for three games across the streams. The matches were very competitive – the FAUGHS boys displayed plenty of effort and determination throughout which was pleasing for all present to observe. The opposition were perhaps just a little more advanced on skill levels able to get controlled possession more easily – this is something to work on as part of learning & development.
After a break the panel reconvened at lunch time to take a bus to GOREY for a fixture against local club NAOMH EANA. This was a fantastic experience for all broadening their hurling horizon and playing against different opposition and different playing style. Our squad of 23 were very competitive against the local side and really enjoyed the experience and variety. We thanked the Gorey team and mentors for the match and all returned home safely after a refreshment stop in Wicklow. Overall it was a great day out building bonds and experiences of huge value. We wish speedy recovery to our mentor Conor Walsh who sustained an unfortunate injury during the game.
Well done to all on a great day of hurling and team building and particular well done to MOTM winners in the early matches –
Kevin Ryan; Eoin O’Brien; James Brophy.
MOTM for Gorey Conor Deasy.
