Vacancy: Faughs Bar and Clubhouse Manager
Background:
Faughs is the oldest GAA club in Dublin, set up in 1885. Based at Wellington Lane in Dublin 6W, it celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2015 and through the Faughs 2020 Strategic Plan has ambitious plans in place to continue its growth. Faughs is dedicated to Hurling and Camogie, with more than 800 players and 35 teams across Juvenile and Senior. The club has grown significantly at Juvenile level with very strong community and school links. It has 3 main pitches, an Astro facility with a ball wall, a Gym, a Physio clinic, two Function Rooms (each with Bar), a Kitchen and a Members’ Bar.
Faughs GAA Club’s mission is to serve our Community as a “Hurling and Camogie Club” where everyone is welcomed, all our players have the opportunity to take part & reach their full potential both “on and off the pitch” & everyone is inspired to keep a lifelong engagement with our Club.
The Club is working on five key strategies as part of the 2020 plan including:

Faughs Clubhouse is a hub of community activity. The position of Clubhouse and Bar Manager has been created to further develop and optimise clubhouse utilisation and increase revenue. A key focus of the job will be on Revenue generation and Margin growth in the Bar and Function rooms. There are significant opportunities to optimise around functions such as Children’s parties, 18th Birthday Parties and Hall hire. Our function rooms have recently undergone a complete revamp.
Faughs Bar and Clubhouse Manager
Specification responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the Business Development and the delivery of all activities at the Faughs Clubhouse
- Responsible for the Sales and Marketing of the Faughs Clubhouse
- Growing function revenue by active marketing of current facilities
- Identify and increase activities in the Members Bar
- Growing Children’s party offerings by active marketing facilities to include all-weather pitch
- Identify and develop other revenue opportunities
- Managing all bookings through phone, web, social media etc.
- Liaison with the provider of restaurant / food facilities on the site
- Achieve the Sales targets on a monthly basis
- Responsible for the operational management of all aspects of the building in Wellington Road (5 part time staff, augmented for functions) to include:
- Management of bar and its staff of 5 part time workers
- Management of temporary resources (funded through TUS)
- Cleaning , Stock ordering and deliveries
- Liaising with security
- Manage within the monthly cost budgets
- Responsible for achieving monthly Revenue, Costs and profit targets.
The Candidate will have experience of business development and working in a customer facing activity such as a bar, restaurant or visitors event activity. Marketing / Social Media Skills would be an advantage.
The position may suit:
- An ambitious assistant bar / restaurant manager with excellent customer facing skills who is keen to gain further experience in a location with significant potential;
- An experienced manager also with excellent customer facing skills who is seeking flexible hours.
Hours are negotiable. Typically, day time deliveries can be arranged to suit person but evening / weekend presence for events is important. Given the voluntary ethos of Faughs, the level of voluntary support to the person will be significantly greater than a normal commercial organisation
Remuneration
Fixed salary augmented by profit based incentive scheme
