U10 T1 vs Lucan – 19/03/16
It was overcast but nice when the U10s lined out 2 teams against Lucan Sarsfields in Tymon Park on Saturday.
Due to the holidays, and a few lads with injuries, we were down a number of key players.
In the first match, we found ourselves under pressure from a very strong (and tall) Lucan side.
Towards the end of the first half though, the lads got stuck in and fought back hard, we were very unlucky not to have scored at least 2 goals. The second half was more or less the same with Lucan’s strenght and height advantage taking its toll.
A superb point from the middle of the field by Oscar O’Connor, was the stand out score of the match.
Although our lads gave it their all, today was not their day. Hopefully they all learned a lot from it and will bounce back stronger the next day.
A special mention for young Louis Roarty from the U9s who lined out along side his big brother today and showed no fear against the far bigger opposition.
Team – Tom O’B. Harry, Conor K, Binath, Oscar, Charlie, Thomas and Louis.
The second match was a much tighter affair, Lucan had the better of the first half as our lads took a while to get up to the pace of the game. In the second half, Faughs more than held their own and competed well throughout the field, Conor Brown made some great saves in goal.
There was some great defensive work from Dylan, Richie and James Barry, Sam McNamara played a blinder on his first game with the U10 and got some great scores. Aiden Mostyn wored tirelessly throughout and Conor Ward displayed his usual array of skills. The match proved that our boys are a match for anyone when everyone works hard.
To keep on improving, everyone one needs to keep practicing EVERYDAY even if only for a few minutes.
Team – Richie H, Conor Brown, Conor Ward, Aiden M, James B, Dylan N and Sam Mc.
